B&B Poppy's
About us
Our B&B Poppy's is situated in a renovated 19th-century citizen house in the historic heart of the city.
At the place where this house is located there was only a cemetery until 1876. After the evacuation of this one could start with buildings.The plot, together with several adjoining plots, was owned by mr. Alphonse Naert, a provincial studer builder. This started in 1877 with the construction of 6 almost identical houses (now nr 6 to 11). He himself lived in nr 6, the house where we currently operate our B&B.
Host Peter will welcome you and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
As part of the renovation, my wife Iris and I have tried to preserve the authentic elements as much as possible. For example, we find an old parquet floor in the salon and living room, while these 2 rooms are separated by the 4-stroke door with lead glass. The windows on the façade are also equipped with lead glass. On the ceiling the original cornices and rosettes were kept while we found etched glass in the windows along the rear wall. All these elements are silent witnesses of the rich past of the home.
The B&B was named after our dog, Poppy.
She passed away on 23 March 2018.
